Introduction
Welcome to the Post-Graduate program to teach members of the Rebel Squadrons how to use the XvTED Program to build working missions! This Academy programme is split up into varying levels of instruction and detail to give people increased levels of understanding towards the mechanics behind mission construction.
Purpose
The intent of this program is to first give people an understanding of the level of work and effort that is needed in producing high-quality missions. In addition, it is the hope of the creator and instructors of this programme that the students will take their knowledge and either go and enhance their squadron activity and participation through the use of Squadron level ITODs or to join up with the Rebel Squadrons Tactical Operations (RS TacOps) team to help with the production of the club wide ITODs.
Requirements/Pre-requisites
This program is intended primarily for the instruction of members of the Rebel Squadrons, however special circumstances may be accomodated for members of allied clubs. Also, for a Rebel Squadrons member to be accepted into the program, he or she must have been a member of the club for a substantial amount of time (approx. 1 year) or has shown their strong dedication to the club through other means and duties. Furthermore, to take the higher level courses, an applicant must have taken and completed the lower level courses.
General Information
This course is broken up into four different levels, three of which are dedicated to the instruction of mission building while the fourth and final course focuses on troubleshooting and the instruction of the earlier levels. The course material for each course level may be obtained on an individual lesson basis if a person wants to take the course at a slower pace or can obtain all of the course lessons at once and work through it at a relatively faster pace.
The focus of Level 1 is methodology, introduction to the XvTED program, and the basic essentials for making a working mission.
Level 2 then builds upon the foundation of Level 1 to teach a person how to make detailed missions, incorporating all aspects that are to be included in professional looking missions. Upon completion of Level 2 it is expected/intended that a person will have all of the tools necessary to build a Division-level ITOD mission, although will be lacking in an appropriate amount of experience.
Finally, there are actually three different Level 3 courses, each tuned specifically to one of the styles of missions that can be built for X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and/or its expansion Balance of Power. These course levels focus on the introduction of multiplayer gaming while at the same time introducing storyline flow and interconnection between different missions. Upon completion of the TRAIN format Level 3 course, it is expected/intended that the student will now have both the tools and experience useful for the construction of Division-level ITOD missions. The other two courses are intended to give people the opportunity to enhance the game and open up the possibility to create interesting and unique Multiplayer competitions.
This programme will work in conjunction with the VSG merit system as well as the Missions Database. As such, upon the successful completion of each level the student shall recieve the appropriate ribbon through the medals system, will recieve a varying amount (based on instructor and/or peer assessment) of VSG merits for the construction of XvT or BoP missions, and the missions which were built shall be placed in the Missions Database for general club members to download, play, and review.
